The Residents gathered to celebrate our March Birthday babies: Marilyn M, Helen Z, Betty G and Pam! Happy Birthday and here’s to many more!!
A couple Residents braved the storms and ventured out to see the Morpho Mania at the Butterfly House. They were not going to miss this outing due to some rain. Can you spot the butterflies in each picture? The only morpho that sat long enough to take a picture of was the one with beaten wings who needed a rest and landed on my arm! Ha! Good times!!
The Residents had a scheduled tour to view the gorgeous stained glass windows at the United Methodist Church in Webster Groves. When we arrived, the power in the whole neighborhood went out just five minutes prior. Our tour guide left to check on his house and we were told the church was pitch black. They had a pamphlet that discussed each of the 20+ stained glass windows and their images meanings. I said we were already there so lend us the pamphlet and we will use our phone flashlight and guide ourselves. What a great decision that was! With no light in the church, the windows were amazingly brilliant! God had a plan for us to see these in all their glory!! When our self guided tour was complete, the power came back on. Wonderful timing for a wonderful trip! Check out these images!!
The Residents of The Rockwood got the chance to view the newest version of the St. John’s Bible. This bible was the first handwritten and illustrated bible done in 500 years. It took 20 monks 13 years to finish this beautiful version of the bible. Our Residents were honored to be able to have a private viewing so that we could get up close and touch a copy of this work of art. View it if you get a chance! There are not a lot of copies made to view.
The Rockwood picked a cold day after Eagle watching to do something none of us had done before…. visit the Melvin Price Locks and Dam Museum. We toured the museum and went on a guided tour of the Locks and Dam itself. We watched something that few people get to watch, barges pulling through the locks to reach the other side. Fascinating! Check out the pics! OH, and the best part.. warming up to great food and drink at the famous Fast Eddies Bon-Air!!
We ventured out for a fantastic day of eagle watching this day. Weather was chilly but tolerable. We saw 6 eagles, four adults and two young ones. The Audubon Society Center at Riverlands is such a great place located in West Alton, MO. We toured the bird sanctuary and viewed the locks and dam in the distance. Wonderful day!
